Truck Undercoating & Rust Protection Services

Seal frames, floors, and hidden cavities against road salt and brine, before corrosion starts costing you equipment.

Rust Starts Where You Can't See It

The undercarriage of a work truck takes more abuse than any other part of the vehicle. Salt brine, slush, and gravel blast frame rails, crossmembers, and floor pans every winter. By the time rust shows on the outside, it has often been eating through metal from the inside for years.
At Dependable Paint, our truck undercoating service in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, protects commercial vehicles where corrosion does the most damage. We clean, inspect, and coat frames, floors, wheel wells, and enclosed cavities with products chosen for how and where your trucks work.
Regular heavy truck rust protection is one of the most cost-effective ways to extend the life of your equipment. It slows corrosion, protects resale value, and helps keep frames and brake components in condition to pass inspection.

Services we offer

Undercoating and Rustproofing Services for Work Vehicles

Not every coating suits every truck. The right choice depends on the vehicle’s age, the condition of the metal, and how it’s used. We recommend the product and method after inspecting your undercarriage.
01

Commercial Truck Rustproofing

Our commercial truck rustproofing uses penetrating oil and wax coatings that creep into seams, displacing moisture to protect trucks running salted highways.
02

Undercarriage Coating for Trucks

Our undercarriage coating for trucks creates a heavy barrier against gravel and road salt, applied strictly over clean metal to prevent trapped moisture.
03

Cavity & Frame Rail Treatment

We spray anti-corrosion wax into boxed frame rails, rocker panels, and cab corners using extension wands to shield hidden interior metal surfaces.
04

Trailer Undercoating

Our trailer undercoating protects exposed crossmembers, landing gear, and floors on dry vans and flatbeds from constant road spray and hidden rust.
05

Anti-Corrosion Spray for Commercial Vehicles

Our anti-corrosion spray for commercial vehicles provides a lighter annual treatment for brackets, wiring clips, and hardware to prevent seized bolts and rust.
06

Rust Inspection & Spot Repair

Before coating, we inspect for active rust and scale. Loose rust is removed, treated, or referred to our bodywork team before applying protection.

Is Road Salt Already Winning Under Your Truck?

Corrosion underneath a truck usually goes unnoticed until repairs get expensive. Book a rust inspection if you notice:
Protecting the undercarriage now costs far less than replacing frame parts later.

Engineered for Durability

Our Undercoating Process, Step by Step

01

Undercarriage Wash

We pressure wash the frame, floors, and wheel wells to remove salt, mud, and road film. Coating over dirt seals in the contaminants that cause rust.

02

Drying & Inspection

The undercarriage is fully dried, then inspected for active rust, cracks, and damaged areas. You receive a summary of what we find before coating begins.
03

Rust Treatment

Loose rust and scale are removed from problem areas. Remaining surface rust is treated so the coating bonds to stable metal.

04

Masking Critical Components

We cover brake components, exhaust and aftertreatment systems, sensors, and drive components that should not be coated.
05

Coating Application

Frames, floors, and wheel wells are coated, and enclosed cavities are treated with extension wands. Product is applied evenly into seams, welds, and overlapping joints.
06

Final Check & Care Advice

We remove masking, check coverage, and give you a recommended reapplication schedule based on the product used.

Rust Protection Timed for the Maritime Salt Season

Our Dartmouth shop offers commercial vehicle lettering in Dartmouth, NS, so local businesses can drop off a truck in the morning and pick it up the same day. Our truck decal printing in Halifax helps contractors and trades stand out on busy city streets, while our fleet decal installation in Moncton supports multi-truck rebrands and new unit rollouts in batches.
If you’ve been searching for “truck lettering near me” in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick, our indoor installation bay keeps cold, damp Atlantic weather from affecting how well your graphics stick. That means reliable installs all year, even in the middle of winter.

FAQs

Truck Undercoating FAQs

Everything you need to know about timelines, warranties, and getting your fleet refinished.
Oil-based and wax-based rustproofing is usually reapplied every year, ideally before winter. Heavier undercoatings last longer but should be inspected annually and touched up where chipped.
Oil-based products stay soft, penetrate seams, and push out moisture, but need yearly reapplication. Rubberized coatings form a hard, impact-resistant layer but can trap moisture if applied over rust or if they crack.
It can slow surface rust, but it won’t repair weakened metal. Loose rust must be removed first, and badly corroded sections need repair before any coating is applied.
Early fall is ideal, before road crews start using salt and brine. Coating is most effective when the undercarriage is clean and fully dry.
Oil-based products may drip lightly for a day or two as they settle into seams. Wax-based and dripless options are available if dripping is a concern.
Inspectors need to see frames and brake components clearly. We avoid coating brake parts and choose products that don’t hide frame cracks or damage.
Most single trucks are completed within a day, including washing and drying time. Trailers and larger units may take longer. We confirm the timing when you book.
Cost depends on vehicle size, coating type, and how much rust treatment is needed. Fleet bookings with multiple units are often priced per vehicle. We provide a quote after inspection.
